The Nevada football defense held San Jose State to 18 yards passing and 80 yards rushing up until the final 19 minutes of the game Saturday at Spartan Stadium. Defensive end and team captain Brett Roy collected his second sack of the season and kept pressure on the Spartans’ quarterbacks all day. Fellow captain James-Michael Johnson (linebacker) picked up a loose fumble to kill a San Jose State drive in the third quarter. Overall, the Wolf Pack defense looked better than it did in its first game at Oregon, where it allowed 603 yards, 69 points and did not force a turnover. Against the Spartans, Nevada allowed only 290 yards and forced four turnovers.
